It Was Just Friendship, Then One Thing Led to Another – Agnes & David

When I first learnt of David and Agnes' story, it triggered a famous quote from one of the biggest music stars this world has ever seen—the late Michael Jackson. He once said, "friendship is the starting step for what we call love. If one can become your friend then he/she can easily become your partner."

Indeed, the quote loudly speaks to the Babirye Agnes Lubinga and Mwanje David's love story, which according to Agnes was just friendship but then, one thing led to another after meeting at the heart of Kampala at Nalule arcade in Nakasero where she used to spend time after her lectures.

"We met at my aunt's hardware shop at Nalule Arcade in Nakasero. I usually sat around the shop after having lectures and that's where he also used to sit part time. He saw me and expressed interest," Agnes recounts on how she and her hubby met.

She however adds that David's interest was just friendship before things graduated to an affectionate and intimate level. "It was just friendship and then one thing led to another," she added.

David, who Agnes describes as a very caring man had been courting her for five years before he asked for her hand in marriage. The beautiful twin (Babirye) then introduced David to her family, relatives and friends on January 21st 2017 at her parent's home in Lumundi village, Wobulezi – Mukono District.

A week later, King David walked his queen down the aisle at St. Mbaga Tuzinde Catholic Church in Kiwatule on Saturday 28th January. The gorgeous couple had a street photo shoot in Kololo before heading to their reception at the Uganda Museum where they hosted their guests for the rest of the evening.

David and Agnes travelled to Kalangala islands for their honeymoon. Agnes advises couples planning to tie the knot that "they should always be patient and they will come to their desires."
