Is it Okay for Ugandans to kiss in public

Researching into this topic it is really clear that colonialism affected the way we view sexuality and things like kissing/flirting in public. Personally, I don’t think Africans consider kissing as a cultural performance of love.

I think that public display of affection, like kissing, is unAfrican.I’ve never seen my parents kiss. And so what if you are a couple? Please please, do your ‘kissing’ behind closed doors, so you don’t spoil the ‘children’.

Interestingly, french kissing wasn’t something people did outside France either until about the post war era. In fact a lot of what is seen as modern western sexual culture is in fact french derived from around the 17-19th century’s when France was seen as the leader and innovator in all things art, fashion, gastronomical and sexual.

What has been your experience? Do you kiss in public, will you kiss, how many people have you seen kiss recently? Is it part of our culture? Let’s discuss.
